Bangladesh on Tuesday showed the door to coach Jamie Siddons, just days
after the national team failed to make it to the quarter-final of the
Cricket World Cup 2011.
"It has been agreed that head coach Jamie Siddons' contract, which expires on June 30, will not be extended," the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a press statement.
"We are really appreciative of Jamie's contribution over the last four years and the successes he has had with the national team. However, we feel the time is right to ring in changes in the team Management and support staff."
Bangladesh, which co-hosted the World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka, made an early exit from the showpiece event, going down to huge defeats to India, West Indies and South Africa in the league stages.
Australian-born Siddons took charge of Bangladesh in November 2007.
"The contract of bowling coach Ian Pont has expired and fielding coach Julien Fountain's tenure will end this (April) month. We will also advertise for these specialist positions as early as possible."
The Board has retained the services of strength and conditioning coach Grant Trafford Luden until March 2012 while physio Michael Henry's contract, which is due to expire on 30 April, will be reviewed over the coming weeks.
The future of the National Selection Committee will also be discussed after the tenure of the panel ends this month.
