Captain Shakib Al Hasan, who made 51 with Tamim Iqbal striking 62, was proud of his side's efforts, but felt that poor bowling after putting Australia in had made chasing such a large total almost impossible.
He said: "I thought we did not bowl well. It was not a wicket where you can chase 270 as the wicket gets slower in the evening and the ball kept low and it did not help in scoring runs.
"This morning it was easier to bat on but I thought we played well. We did not have a good time at the World Cup but the batsmen are gaining in confidence."
Shakib also praised Tamim's promising innings. "That's what we want from him but he has to kick on from 50s and convert into hundreds, but hopefully he will learn from his mistake," he said.
