Dubai: Former Australia skipper Ian Chappell feels Ricky Ponting should not share his captaincy tricks with newly-appointed captain Michael Clarke and should give him a free hand in making his own decisions.

"I think Michael Clarke was the right bloke to take over; he has made a good start (winning the series in Bangladesh) but it's not how you start, it's how you progress," he said.
"I don't think Ponting should be sharing his captaincy tricks, Michael Clarke should be doing things his own way, it's pointless having the captain resign if he's advising the terms to the new captain," said Chappell in the ICC cricket world radio show.
In his first assignment as skipper, Clarke led Australia to a crushing 3-0 win over Bangladesh in a three-match one-day series.
