Preity Zinta hopeful of Kings XI Punjab turnaround

The Bollywood superstar and Kings XI Punjab co-owner, Preity Zinta is hopeful to see a turnaround in the team’s performance, after a terrible show in its first Indian Premier League match against the Pune Warriors, on Sunday.
The Yuvraj Singh led Pune Warriors thrashed the Kings XI Punjab convincingly by 7 wickets. The Punjab batting line-up proved like a house of cards in front of excellent bowling from the Warriors. However, the Punjab outfit skipper Adam Gilchrist and Preity are pretty confident that the side would turn the things around in the next game.
"I am an eternal optimist and I hope there will be a turnaround," Preity said.
Though, the Punjab franchise has lost a number of its key players, who were part of the Punjab set-up last year, Preity is satisfied with the team’s line-up under the leadership of former Australian wicket-keeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist.
"I am happy with what we`ve got. We don`t have big stars in the team. I think Gilly (Gilchrist) is a good captain, a good team leader, who led his team in winning the title (as Deccan Chargers skipper)," the Indian film star added.
The Shimla-born actress, who got fame by her super hit movie ‘Soldier’, believes that life is all about facing challenges. She expected that the team would step forward and prove that the big names are not essential to achieve glory.
After the IPL auctions this season, the Punjab team lost some big stars including Yuvraj Singh, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, as all three are leading different outfits this season.
Talking in a lively mood, Preity said, "KXIP has already given three captains to IPL. Sangakkara is leading Deccan, Mahela the Kochi team while Yuvi is Warriors skipper.”
The Kings XI Punjab has not yet made a mark in the IPL, as the team could not demonstrate any notable performance in the previous editions of the league, except the semi-final appearance in the 2008 season.
With a punch-line of “Live Punjabi, Play Punjabi”, the fans are expecting KXIP to fire in the next game. It must be noted that no player from the Punjab state featured in the team’s last game against the Pune Warriors.
The Kings XI Punjab is scheduled to clash against defending champion, Chennai Super Kings at Mohali, on Wednesday.
