West Indies have left former captain Chris Gayle and fellow experienced batsmen Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan out of their squad for the first two of five one-day internationals against Pakistan.
All three fared moderately at the World Cup when the Windies, who have also axed left-arm spinners Sulieman Benn and Nikita Miller, scraped into the quarter-finals before losing by 10 wickets to Pakistan.
All-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been named vice-captain to skipper Darren Sammy for the five-match series. Antiguan leg-spinner Anthony Martin is the only uncapped player in the 13-man party after impressing in the domestic one-day tournament.
All-rounder Kieron Pollard is missing the entire one-day series, which runs from April 23 to May 5 and is preceded by a Twenty20 international on April 21, to play for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
The T20 party features four new caps - Danza Hyatt, Christopher Barnwell, Ashley Nurse and Krishmar Santokie - plus recalls for Lendl Simmons and Marlon Samuels, who is once again eligible for selection after serving a two-year ban for his alleged involvement with illegal bookmakers.
Chairman of selectors Clyde Butts said: “We have looked at a mix of players who will take us through the next five to 10 years and with this squad we have put together a youthful but exciting combination of exceptionally talented cricketers who we believe can win matches.
“There are some familiar faces who have not been included on this occasion, but we have already identified the core of players who we will build the team around.
"However the time has come for us to introduce a fresh crop of players who we believe has a deep desire to excel and who can be tested at the international level.”
