Kingston, Jamaica, Digicel, sponsor of West
Indies cricket since 2004 launched its exciting summer in the Caribbean –
Digicel Series 2011 – featuring West Indies against their ICC Cricket
World Cup opponents Pakistan and world champions India, in a battle for
supremacy that will span two Twenty20s, ten ODIs and five Test matches.
The next three months are
expected to be another interesting match-up between West Indies and
Pakistan and India following their performances in ICC World Cup. Having
suffered defeats at both their hands recently, West Indies will be
anxious to deliver in front of their home crowd. Pakistan tour, first in
Digicel Series, begins on April 21 at Beausejour Ground, St. Lucia,
with a Twenty20. The first & second ODIs follow on April 23 & 25
respectively. Kensington Oval in Barbados will be site of third and
fourth ODIs from April 28 to May 2, with fifth and final ODIs of West
Indies/Pakistan tour at Guyana between May 5 & 7.
Play resumes in first Test at Guyana
from May 12-16. Pakistan Tour ends with second Test at Warner Park, St.
Kitts from May 20-24. Trinidad will host West Indies, India series
starting with T20 match on June 4at Queen’s Park Oval. Action continues
between June 6 & 8 at same venue, when teams face off in first and
second ODI games. Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards Ground will play host to
third and fourth ODIs between June 11 & 13, before teams go to
Jamaica, which will begin with final ODI at Sabina Park on June 16
followed by first Test match from June 20-24. Barbados welcomes teams on
June 26, for second Test from June 28 at Kensington Oval and ends with
third Test at St. Kitts’ Windsor Park from July 6-10.
