Pune Warriors coach Geoff Marsh believes that the his side failed to win the match against Rajasthan Royals due to poor fielding. The match which was played
at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, on 1st May say the Warriors succumb after scoring 143 runs.
Rajasthan
enjoyed their third victory in a row, after beating debutant Pune by
six wickets. Before this, Rajasthan, under the captaincy of legend Shane
Warne,
had enjoyed two consecutive wins over the Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Mumbai Indians. Following this win, Warne’s team became the third team after Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders to add five victories in the ongoing season.
Marsh
commented, "Yeah, I thought 143 was a good score and obviously we would
have liked a few more, especially after the start we got, but yeah, it
was a really
slow wicket and too hot, but in the day, we should have won the game."
The
coach also added that picking catches in a game like cricket is very
necessary but his team dropped some crucial catches and as a result they
ended the match
in a loss.
On the other hand, the skipper Warne said that his bowlers showed good bowling performances. Siddharth Trivedi helped his side by claiming two important wickets
of Manish Pandey and Mithun Manhas, who were expected to hit huge runs.
Warne,
with 11 wickets at an average of 17.54, is the top wicket-taker for
Rajasthan in the Indian Premier League (IPL) fourth edition.
Rajasthan’s
captain also asserted that they knew about the strong resistance from
Pune’s side as they were supposed to win the last six matches, to stay
in the
tournament. He also said that Pune showed a good fight against his
side’s strong bowling.
Robbin
Uthappa was the top scorer for Pune Warriors and amassed 35 runs off 21
balls including seven fours while Manish Pandey was the second highest
runs scorer
for his side for hitting 30 runs off 31 balls including four fours.
Ross Taylor
was the top run-getter for RR for scoring unbeaten 47 runs off 35 balls
including four fours and two sixes. The big-hitter was awarded
Man-of-the-Match
for helping his side to a six run victory.
Rajasthan are now leading the points table with a maximum 11 points, out of their eight matches.
