Both Captains were confident about winning the match and consolidating their position at the top four.
MS Dhoni: "The Individuals are standing up and taking responsibitlity. That has been the key. And the fielding. We have just dropped one catch in the last few games. The track looks slightly sticky and will get better as it progresses. Bangalore is always good for batsmen".
Daniel Vettori won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings in to bat first and commented,
"Teams have got an eye on the semis as well. We have tried to put a full-strength side. There have been a few changes. If we can keep a team under 180, it will be a good job".
The decision paid off as they got the important wicket of competent batsman, Michael Hussey, when he had scored just four runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers were unplayable and the batsmen found it very difficult to score runs. They lost four wickets at just 22 runs when Wriddhiman Saha, and, Captain Dhoni joined together and contributed 42 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. Saha was the fifth batsman to go after scoring 22 runs.
Dhoni held up one end as the wickets kept on tumbling at the other end. He shared a 15-run partnership for the sixth wicket, 21 runs partnership with Albie Morkel for the seventh wicket, and, could add 10 runs for the eigth wicket.
