The Kiwi all-rounder, James Franklin, who is representing Mumbai Indians in the ongoing fourth season of the Indian Premier League, has said that he has been enjoying his stint in the lucrative Twenty20 league.
A few days earlier, Franklin’s compatriot, Jacob Oram, who returned home after playing just a couple games in the competition, stated that he could not develop a bond with the league.
He cited his discomfort with the Indian movie stars, heavy fashion show-off and glamorous after-match parties.
In contrary, Franklin, who has been maintaining a good run so far in the tournament, expressed that his stay in the league is one of the memorable moments of his life.
"I have enjoyed it. It's my first experience. I'm with a great franchisee Mumbai Indians. I have really enjoyed thus far. Hopefully we have two games to go and we do go all the way. It's been pretty good fun till now. The passion for the game is amazing here. I have been here for four months since the World Cup. I'm still enjoying my stay here," Franklin said.
The Kiwi left-hander played a pivotal role in his team’s comprehensive four-wicket victory over Kolkata KnightRiders (KKR) in the elimination-round match on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
Put into bat first, the Knight Riders amassed a decent total of 147 with help of responsible batting by Ryan ten Doeschate.
Later in the match, even though Sachin Tendulkar and Aiden Blizzard provided their side a fantastic start by exhibiting a thrilling 81-run partnership, Gautam Gambhir and company made a strong comeback and picked up five quick wickets.
However, Franklin took the responsibility in the middle-order and led his side to an emphatic victory by hitting an exciting unbeaten innings of 29 runs.
When asked about his team’s convincing performance in the crucial game against the Kolkata outfit, Franklin added, "I thought we did a really a good job to restrict them under 150. We had a great start with the ball. It got us on the front-foot and we did hold on from there."
Meanwhile, Franklin asked his teammates to carry the winning momentum forward to the next big semi-final game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, scheduled to be played at Chennai on Friday, May 27, 2011.
