Chennai Super Kings’ skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is proud of his team’s impeccable track record at home, as they sealed their seventh consecutive victory at Chennai by beating Kochi Tuskers Kerala, last night.
"Our record at home is something that we can be really proud of. It is a big achievement for us but it does not mean that we can relax a bit", Dhoni said.
In the 64th Indian Premier League game on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, the Super Kings outclassed Kerala XI and notched an easy 11- run triumph.
Although, Dhoni was not able to show his magic with the bat, Wriddhiman Saha’s blistering unbeaten innings of 46 runs was enough to steer Chennai to a decent total of 152.
Later in the match, the Tuskers could not achieve the target as their late middle-order failed to accelerate when it was badly needed.
On his team’s performance against Parthiv Patel’s led Kochi side, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman stated, "With 150-odd runs, we were looking at not giving many runs in the first six overs. The game was even till the 10th over of the Kochi innings. But then the ball lost its sheen and it was difficult to play shots against the quality spinners that we have in our line-up".
Dhoni further described that the tough games just before the knockouts will help his side to do well in the play-offs. Meanwhile, he made it clear to everyone in the IPL that he and his side are ready for the bigchallenge in the next round.
Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha, who won the ‘player of the match’ award, for his brilliant batting against Kochi’s top class bowling attack, cited Chennai’s wicket as not an easy track to bat on. On his fantastic knock, he explained that initially he was looking to rotate the strike by nudging the ball around and after setting his eye he went for the big hits.
With 18 points, CSK are sitting at the top position in the IPL standings. They have one more game left in the first round and even though the team has secured its place in the play-offs, Dhoni asked his teammates not to relax and continue the good work.
