Having grabbed five wickets for 130 on the 4th day of the Second Test, Team Pakistan is on the verge of victory and making history.
The Men in Green have never won any Test match on Caribbean soil and this just might be their first.
However, the 2-match series will end in a tie if they win, as the Windies won the 1st Test at Guyana.
Pakistani spinners unleashed their firepower to contain the West Indian batsmen in all three innings. The Pakistani batsmen also assisted their bowlers to forge an invincible fortress against the Caribbean.
Now West Indies need 297 runs to win the game at the 5th day while they have just 5 wickets in hand. All their ace batsmen have gone and the lower order does not have the capability to defend.
In their first innings, Pakistan scored 272 and restricted the Windies to 223. The spinners, Abdur Rehman,Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez took 2, 3 and 3 wickets respectively.
In their second innings, the Men in Green piled up 377 and grabbed 5 wickets of the Caribbean Kings for just 130, Courtesy Rehman’s 3 wickets.
The Pakistani batsman, Taufeeq Umar lashed a match-winning 135 and the skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq made 102. Azhar Ali’s half century was also a good contribution.
Before going to the 5th day, analysts predict the Caribbean side to lose. On the other hand, the Pakistanis are all geared up to celebrate the historical success of their team.
Some analysts argue that Darren Sammy’s decision of replacing the opening batsman, Devon Smith, with a debutant, Kraigg Brathwaite, has cost them the game. The young and inexperienced opener has not bated well in this Test.
Before this series, Pakistan had played 7 Test series on the Caribbean soil and lost 5 while two ended as draws.
However, Pakistan has won some series at home and neutral venues against the Windies.
This two-match Test series came after the 5-match ODI series, which the Pakistani side won.
