According to sources, officials of the PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have detailed discussions in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) meeting next month.
"So far we have not discussed anything concrete with the Indians so far but we are looking at a June meeting to get the ball rolling", a senior PCB official stated.
After the semi final of the ICC World Cup 2011 between Pakistan and India at Mohali, Pakistan has shown great interest to restart cricketing affairs with India.
"Yes, we are keen on resuming bilateral ties because the signals during the meeting the Indian Prime Minister had in Mohali were very positive", Subhan Ahmad, PCB Chief Operating Officer said.
Before the semi final clash, Pakistan played against India during the Asia Cup in June 2010 at Dambulla, Sri Lanka.
A series held in 2007-2008 was the last cricket series between India and Pakistan. After the terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka’s team in Lahore on March 3, 2009, international cricket teams are not visiting Pakistan.
Cricket fans are anxiously waiting for Pakistan and India to play series against each other.
People always enjoy Indo-Pak cricket matches, as the off-field rivalry between Pakistan and India give them a reason to clap for their respective teams. The Indo-Pak matches have always been full of thrill, excitement, anxiety, and, pressure.
Initially, reports that India was ready to visit Pakistan to play a bilateral series had gotten the PCB Chairman,Ijaz Butt, excited.
Afterwards, India started showing hesitation to come Pakistan on the basis of security concerns, as international cricket teams have not been visiting Pakistan since March, 2009.
Indian reservations regarding security concerns, has pushed PCB on the back foot, with regards to organizing a cricket series between the neighbouring countries.
