Pakistan takes control of second Test against West Indies at St.Kitts: Cricket News

Pakistan has consolidated its position on day three of the second Test against the West Indies taking place at the Warner Park in St.Kitts. The tourists rolled over the hosts for 223 runs in their first innings gaining a valuable 49 runs lead. They extended the lead to 180 by tea through a solid batting performance by the top three batsmen led by Taufeeq Umar.
The left-handed batsman Umar, who had a tough chase for run in the series, made full use of two dropped catches early on in his innings to guide his team to a position of strength. He got off to a poor start and was lucky to survive two chances. Darren Bravo dropped an easy catch off Kemar Roach in the first slip, soon after Captain Darren Sammy dropped Umar again in the slips region.
He made the hosts pay with an attacking approach early on in the innings, his completed his half century shortly after the lunch interval and pushed on to a score of 65 off 139 balls through to the team interval.
He has so far hit 8 fours in his innings, his opening partner Mohammad Hafeez hit a scratchy 32 off 76 balls before falling to Sammy. Hafeez hit one massive six besides 4 fours in his innings.
Azhar Ali was also dropped in the slips off Devendra Bishoo. The right-handed batsman gave good company to Umar and reached 33 through to the tea interval.
He has so far added 76 runs for the second wicket with Umar. Early on day three the hosts were sent packing for 223 runs in their first innings. They resumed at the overnight score of 184 for 8. The pair or Ravi Rampauland Kemar Roach took them past the 200 run mark. Roach was eventually dismissed by Mohammad Hafeez 29 scored off 103 balls.
Rampaul remained undefeated on 32, while the last wicket to fall was that of Bishoo who was caught in the slips off the bowling of Saeed Ajmal.
