Parthiv Patel aims to perform well on West Indies tour

Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Parthiv Patel, is confident to deliver his one hundred percent in the upcoming tour of West Indies. Patel was brought into the national side for the upcoming One Day series in Caribbean, as regular wicket-keeper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is not available to play.
With Sachin Tendulkar taking a break and Virender Sehwag missing the series due to shoulder injury, Patel will also open the innings, with newly-appointed skipper, Gautam Gambhir.
However, Patel vowed not to feel any unnecessary pressure that he will be shouldering responsibilities in place of Dhoni and Sehwag.
Expressing his delight on selection, Patel said, "I can`t say that I will bat like Sehwag and keep like Dhoni. I will give my hundred percent and try to perform to the best of my abilities".
Patel has served India in 18 One Day Internationals (ODIs). Along with a batting average of 24.16, Patel has 14 catches, and three stumps to his credit.
Patel, who took over the charge from Mahela Jayawardene, led Kochi Tuskers Kerala to their humiliating 11-run defeat  at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 64th Indian Premier League game on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
After electing to bat first, CSK amassed a decent total of 152, courtesy of power-hitting by Wriddhiman Sahain the death overs. In response, the Tuskers could only manage to reach to 141 for 5 in 20 overs.
Patel was not able to show his magic with the bat and got out after scoring just six runs. The 26-year old wicket-keeper also missed two easy stumping chances but insisted that his overall performance behind the stumps has been decent throughout the tournament.
On his team’s performance in the ongoing competition, Patel described that even though the team failed to make it into the play-offs, there are a lot of positives that the side can take from their debut IPL campaign.
The left-handed wicket-keeper batsman added, "There has been lot of positives. Looking at the team sheet of Kochi before the start of the IPL. Everyone thought that ours is a weaker side. We did not have any outstanding performers. RP Singh`s bowling has been a big plus, as he got the ball to swing".
