Punjab and Deccan management to play a friendly match today

The managers and promoters of Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers will play a friendly match at The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, this evening.
The match will be started at the end of the ongoing game between Punjab and Deccan
Talking to media today, Col. Arvinder Singh said, “At the beautiful HPCA stadium of Dharamsala, a friendly match will be played between two contending teams during the season. The friendly match is a celebration of the sport and also an endeavour to provide a class entertainment act for our fans in Dharamsala.”
Some leading figures that will play the game include, Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman, T. Vinayak, Ravi Reddy and Gayatri Reddy.
The match is going to be organized in order to celebrate the spirit and success of the ongoing IPL tournament.
A large number of team supporters, media celebrities and business personalities will be present at the event.
Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers are playing their last game of the first round of the tournament at the same stadium.
This is a must-win game for Punjab which is ranked 5th with 16 points. By winning this game, their hope to qualify for the play-offs will rekindle. The Deccan side has already been knocked out and today’s game does not affect their standing.
Irrespective of the match’s result, the managements of the two teams have decided to have fun and entertainment together.
Reddy told reporters today, “Entertainment and sports go hand in hand. We are looking forward to some creative initiative, warm spirit and friendly competition on display during the match.”
It is quite a new trend in the 4-year history of the IPL. Analysts suggest that this activity will not only provide amusement to the fans but will also give an opportunity to both sides to bridge gaps and dump rivalries.
All the players of the friendly match are padded up. They will walk into the field right after the presentation ceremony concludes.
