Shane Warne says his IPL career was a great experience and helped Indian Cricket

Rajasthan Royals’ captain, Shane Warne, ended his scintillating Indian Premier League (IPL) career with an easy 10-wicket win over Mumbai Indians last night, at Mumbai, on May 20, 2011. The leg-spinner claimed that his four-year IPL duration has helped Indian cricket a lot.
The Australian legendary player said that it was a great experience to play in the IPL after his retirement from International cricket in 2007.
"When I retired in January 2007, I thought that's it, I''ll sit back and watch the game, but I have had four great years in the IPL."
He explained that it would be an honour for him to remain involved with the IPL somehow, as the platform has brought him much respect.
"You never say never, especially in my life. I would like to stay involved with the IPL somehow, whether it would be with the Royals or not that I have to discuss with the owners. They have been great to me, so I would be happy to help them," he shared.
Royals in their farewell game, beat the Mumbai Indians with 10 wickets, much to their skipper, Warne’s delight.
The top-order batsman, Shane Watson, was the top-scorer by collecting 89 runs from 47 deliveries and the right-handed batsman, Rahul Dravid scored 43 from 32 balls.
"When someone of the class of Shane Watson plays like that it shows you how good he is. Our intensity was up, it shows you how well we can play.”
He elaborated that it was a great experience to captain the Royals and claimed that there are many talented players in the IPL, who have a very bright future ahead, like Ankeet Chavan and Ashok Menaria.
Warne in his concluding words said that he is thankful to all his teammates. He said that everyone from his group has been great, both on and off field. He also added that if his team had won one or two games more, they would have been right up there.
Warne in his IPL career has played a total of 55 matches and with 57 dismissals, he set his average at 25.38 with best bowling figures of 4 for 21.
In the IPL’s 2008 edition, Warne was the second highest wicket taker with 19 wickets in 15 matches, setting his average at 21.26.
In 2009, he was the thirteenth, with 14 wickets in 13 matches while in the 2010 season he took 11 wickets in 14 matches with best bowling figures of 4 for 21 runs.
On the other side, the Mumbai Indian skipper, Sachin Tendulkar didn’t go for any excuse and embraced the defeat with a smiling face, saying that they didn’t have enough runs on the board.
