In a bid to avoid repeat of the Indian team's debacle in England,
the BCCI has approached their counterparts in Australia, Cricket
Australia (CA) with a request to increase the tour games from one to two
ahead of the Test series. However, the request seems to be way to
difficult to come into reality because of the domestic cricket schedule
in Australia and India's tight international cricket itinerary.
Ahead of their four-Test series, India are scheduled to face CA
Chairman's XI in a four-day tour game at Canberra. But after Anil Kumble
raised a voice for the need for at least two tour games ahead of any
overseas series, the BCCI bigwigs have written to the Cricket Australia.
However, it was learnt that CA was finding it tough to accommodate
the BCCI's request, primarily due to their IPL-like Twenty20 tournament.
"This will be the first year that their Big Bash will be played on a
franchise-based model. Plus, their first-class domestic tournament will
also be on at the same time, so they are finding it difficult to create
another team to face the visiting team," a BCCI insider said.
