England
remains persistent in their efforts to deliver another humiliating
defeat to the Indians after the hosts’ spin maestro recently stated that
he looks forward to being a potent member on the squad, aiding the home
team in defeating India with a dominating
4-0 whitewash.
Following the fourth day’s play, the 32-year-old off-spinner
commented on his team’s impressive bowling performance stating that the
side’s pacers, alongside him, need to offer another superb run with the
ball, having left with just 7 Indian wickets.
"After five days of cricket, if you're just going to turn up happy
with the draw, then you're not going to last long in this regime,” said
Swann.
“We’ll be turning up tomorrow, 100 per cent committed to try and win
the game. If anyone aired those sorts of views (of a draw) in the
changing room, they'd be down and rightly so. We need to try to get the
wickets early. It would help if we could get three
or four before lunch, especially get rid of Tendulkar. We don't want
him sticking around too long," he added.
The Indian tourists came out with another lame cricketing performance
on the proceeding, final Test match, being played at the Kennington
Oval, London.
Suffering another successive blow to its batting roster, the visitors
now stand in another awkward spot, having earned a ‘follow-on’, thanks
to the much impressive batting by Rahul Dravid.
England will now be taking on India in the final day of play after
the former Test Champions are set to resume their follow on session from
the fourth day’s wrap up of 129 for 3.
As for Swann, the spinner has been exceptional with the ball on the
4th Test fixture and was seen making a notable comeback following a
slightly ‘laidback’ performance in the previous three games.
Swann currently holds 5 wickets from 2 innings, including the potent dismissals of India’s openers, Dravid and Virender Sehwag. However, the player now hopes to come out with another impressive spinning performance with all eyes set on a 4-0 win.
