Australian skipper, Michael Clarke, insisted that his team needs to
keep performing well in order to dominate a strong Sri Lankan line up.
The player was disappointed by his side’s four-wicket defeat in the final One Dayer, and even though the Kangaroos won the series, the captain believes that there is still a lot of work to be done ahead of the Test Series, which begins in a week's time.
We were stoked to win the series," Clarke said. “There is still a long way to go. We have some work to do ahead of the Tests. But, in saying that, very happy that we managed to win the series last game."
The form of the skipper has been exemplary, which led him to get the Player of The Series award.
However a Lasith Malinga hatrick in the final One Dayer took the lime light from the Aussie series win, which was not on the cards before the start of the series.
Many believed that the team would struggle to cope with spin and with them not having a good slow bowler in their ranks, the Lankan Lions would easily come up trumps.
This was not the case, as Clarke and his men put in a special performance to take the series title.
The stars for the side have been the three men forming the pace attack, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson and Doug Bollinger.
Now the task shifts to the Test series, where only Johnson stays on, joined in by likes of Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle and youngsters in the shape of James Pattinson and Nathan Lyon.
The big task for the Kangaroos skipper will be to ensure that he picks a good enough bowling attack, which provides him with 20 wickets in the match.
Clarke also believes that a practice match is highly important for youngsters like Lyon, in order to get used to the Asian conditions.
Meanwhile, his elevated role as one of the selectors will also ensure that he gets the best XI for the start of the first Test match.
