The Indian team manager Anirudh Chaudhry on Thursday clarified that seamer Praveen Kumar was rested for the final Test match due to ankle injury and not thumb injury.
"Praveen Kumar was suffering from pain in his left ankle from an
injury sustained while bowling in the 2nd innings of the 3rd Test Match
between England and India at Edgbaston," a media release issued by
Chaudhry stated.
It further stated, "Treatment was administered to him and he has been
responding well to treatment. However, there are still some residual
symptoms in his ankle due to which he was ruled out of the fourth Test
between England and India at the Oval.
