India continues to take desperate measures in securing some ground on the proceeding Tour to England
after the tourists suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss at the opening Test
spell of the Tour, followed by the recent defeat at the one-off Twenty20
(T20) fixture
on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
However, for the team’s bad luck, all the suffering came coupled with numerous injuries that restricting India into facing a whitewash at the hands of the English hosts.
For the matter, it has been recently learnt that team India will now be opting for all-round cricketer, Ravindra Jadeja,
who is set to join his home side for the upcoming One Day International
(ODI) series, set to kick off on Saturday, September 3, 2011.
Jadeja is said to replace the injured Gautam Gambhir who will finally be asked sit out on the ODI spell following some major doubts about the star batter’s injury.
During the 4th and final Test match between India and
England at the Kennington Oval, London, Gambhir suffered a concussion,
while back paddling in an attempt to secure English all-rounder, Kevin
Pietersen’s catch.
Following the concussion, doubts raised about Gambhir’s inclusion on
the remaining fixtures of the Tour that led the player into missing out
on the two warm up matches against Sussex and Kent and then the only T20 match on Wednesday.
However, previously, following an MRI scan, the Indian team’s manager, Shivlal Yadav
had stated, “There is nothing in his MRI scan and he is fit to play the
ODI series. However, he has been asked to take some rest and that will
take care of everything.”
For now, Gambhir might be taking the plane back to India since the batsman has shown some very poor signs of recovery.
With the case of Jadeja, one may not count on what the youngster may
deliver to the side since previously Virender Sehwag’s inclusion was
seen to be a life saver for India; the outcome was evident to the whole
world.
As for his ODI profile, Jadeja has played 35 matches and out of the
lot the player has managed to score an aggregate worth 535 runs, while
with the ball the slow bowler has earned 29 wickets.
