Umesh Yadav hints at unleashing a surprise delivery in IPL-5

The emerging India pacer, Umesh Yadav, on Sunday said that he is completely fit and raring to go in the fifth season of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will be playing for the Delhi Daredevils.

Speaking to media reporters after their first practice session ahead of the IPL- commencing on April 4, 2012, the 24-year-old Maharashtra fast bowler revealed that he will unleash some new variations in his bowling, in the upcoming Twenty20 tournament.

"The short break has done a world of good for me. I am completely fit and available for selection from the first match,” said Yadav during a media encounter after the franchise opened up its preparatory camp in Delhi on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Maharashtra pacer had sustained a shin injury during India’s tour of Australia earlier this year. Having impressed his teammates and the selectors with his pace and aggression in the disastrous 4-match Test series against the Aussies, Yadav was dubbed the “find of the tour” by the Indian opener Gautam Gambhir.

Yadav attributed his improved performances to Eric Simons, the former India bowling coach and the current head coach of the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils.

"Eric sir is among those who have helped me improve as a bowler…I am working on a few variations in my bowling and you might just find me unleashing a new weapon," revealed the medium pacer.

Asked if the variation he was talking about will be in his slower deliveries, the Maharashtra pacer smiled and said that if he revealed it now, then it would no more be a surprise delivery.

"I am working on a particular delivery but I will use it only if I am hundred per cent confident in a match-situation," the Delhi Daredevils’ fast bowler added.

The Maharashtra pace bowler made his debut for India in May 2010, against Zimbabwe in a One Day International at Bulawayo, and so far he has played 15 ODIs, claiming 16 wickets. His Test stats are more impressive as the right-arm medium pacer has 23 Test wickets to his name from just 6 appearances.
