The fourth wicket partnership between Nawela and Chamara Silva gathered 67 runs. Silva was removed after scoring 35 runs in 40 balls aided with one six and 4 fours.
Nawela held one end and played a supporting innings when the wickets kept on trembling at the other end without any notable partnership.
The sixth wicket was lost at 216 runs when Chethan de Silva came at the crease to stabilise the innings with Nawela. However, Nawela was the next batsman to leave after posting 73 runs and the seventh batsman to be dismissed. The team was bowled out at 270 runs in 67.4 overs as little resistance was shown by the late order batsmen.
Sachith Pathirana ripped through the batting order of Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club, grabbing six wickets while Malintha Gajanayake took two wickets, and Nisal Randika and Romesh Perera, held one wicket each.
Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club now need to come out with aggressive bowling and acrobatic fielding to get Colombo Cricket Club out cheaply.
They will try to achieve a reasonable lead in the first innings, bat well in the second innings and the victory can be achieved only through sheer team work.
