IPL- KKR captain Gautam Gambhir aims for second position in points table

Enormously delighted over his team’s comfortable seven-wicket victory over Pune Warriors India (PWI), the Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper, Gautam Gambhir, has said that his team is aiming to win their next game and finish the first-round at the second spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) standings.
The Knight Riders are currently sitting at third position in the points table after thrashing Yuvraj Singh and company in the 65th game of the season on Thursday, May 19, 2011.
Put into bat, the Warriors were restricted to a meagre total of 118. Yuvraj Singh scored a steady innings of 24 runs, the highest score by any Pune batsman in the game.
In response, the Knight Riders overwhelmed the target convincingly with 20 balls to spare, courtesy of Gautam Gambhir’s unbeaten innings of 54 runs coupled with breathtaking power-hitting by Yusuf Pathan.
Citing team-effort as the key to success, Gambhir admitted that he was quite nervous before the game as the two points were very crucial for his team to stay afloat in the tournament.
"Very important two points. It was a very important game and I was nervous, we had everything to lose today. We needed to be professional. We had come so close we couldn`t afford to let it slip from here", Gambhir said.
When asked about his brilliant batting and fielding performance in the game, the skipper described that he wanted to lead from the front and in order to do that he himself needed to show intensity in the field.
The Knight Riders are now scheduled to play against Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
Considering the next game as very crucial for KKR, Gambhir added, "We want to go out there and look to win the next game as they we would have a very bright chance of moving into the second spot in the table, so that`s what we will focus on".
Meanwhile, he gave full credit to his entire bowling attack that bowled fantastically and restricted the star-studded Pune batting line-up to a paltry score.
