Paul Valthaty prefers to play natural game

Paul Valthaty prefers to play natural game

Paul Valthaty says that he wants to continue playing his natural game for Kings XI Punjab, irrespective of the discussion about his chances in India’s team.
Valthaty is the second highest run scorer of the ongoing IPL season, as he has amassed 458 runs in 13 matches at an average of 38.16, including one century and two fifties. Following this marvellous show, it is speculated that the 27-year old may reserve his place in the Indian team.
"I'm just living in the moment. I'm glad that I've been able to put in a few good performances for my IPL team, but that's it. I'm not thinking even beyond the next match". Valthaty said.
In his side’s opening match, Valthaty’s performance was anonymous.
However, in the next game against Chennai Super Kings, he had a splendid innings of 120 runs off 63 balls including 19 fours and two sixes and was awarded man of the match.
The right-handed batsman carried his brilliant form forward to the next game against Deccan Chargers and amassed a splendid 75 runs off 47 balls including eight fours and five sixes and was named as man of the match.
Valthaty has been the most consistent batsman for his side and he also hit a useful innings of 33 runs against Mumbai Indians. Valthaty also scored a match winning innings of 62 runs against Delhi Daredevils, helping his side to 29-run victory.
Valthaty joined IPL in 2009, while playing for Rajasthan Royals, but later he was signed by Punjab. Playing in a total of 15 IPL innings, he has accumulated 464 runs at an average of 33.14.
Punjab out of their 13 matches played so far have won seven and are placed at fifth with fourteen points. Although, they were languishing in IPL standings, their last four consecutive wins have lifted their position.
Valthaty said that they entered the last phase of IPL with determination of winning five out of five matches and they have won four so far against Mumbai, Kochi, Delhi and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He also added that his side’s next aim is to beat Deccan, in a competition to be played on 21st May at Feroz Shah Kotla.
