Tony Lewis happy to have Sachin Tendulkar in the 2000th Test in Lord’s

Tony Lewis happy to have Sachin Tendulkar in the 2000th Test in Lord’s – Cricket News Update
Tony Lewis, the former English skipper, thinks that it will be a great honour for the Lord’s cricket ground when its 2000th Test game contains the name of the world’s highest scorer, Sachin Tendulkar, on its scorecard. The Home of Cricket is going to host the 2000th Test of its history between India and England on July 21, 2011.
Team India is to land in England today, to play a one-off T20I, 4 Tests and 5 ODIs. The 1st Test will start on July 21 at the most prestigious cricket venue of the world.
Tendulkar, who has rejoined his national squad after skipping the West Indies series, is enthusiastic to lash his batting masterpieces against the mighty English at their own backyard. He is the only man who, the cricket pundits of England think, can pose a formidable threat to the home team.
Being at the top of ODI and Test scorers’ list, the Indian batting celebrity holds mountainous significance at the global level. Moreover, his recent achievement, winning the World Cup 2011, has increased his fame and esteem manifold.
Talking to the media, Lewis said, “It is always a pleasure to meet and watch Sachin. His name on the scorecard of the 2000th Test will be a huge attraction. I have seen a lot of his career and admire the way he has harnessed his natural talent to a massive career with the bat. He will have a welcome at Lord's forever.”
He further elaborated, “We have known about the 100th Test (at Lord's) for a long time, but only recently has the statistician's delight - a 2000th Test come to light. It's an honour, and very satisfying that two great teams will battle on a special occasion.”
Established in 1814, Lord’s is one of the oldest cricket grounds of the world. It is situated at St John’s Wood, London with a seating capacity of almost 28,000 spectators.
Owned by Marylebone Cricket Club, the ground contains the world’s oldest sporting museum. The first Test match Lord’s was played on 21 July, 1884 between England and Australia. Interestingly, the 2000th Test game is also to start on the 21st of July.
